[PDF-Free] An Usborne Introduction Learn German - Nicole Irving Book

This book will teach you all the important first steps in the German language and give you plenty of opportunities to practise what you are learning.

Pages 4 and 5 contain a German pronunciation guide and an introduction to grammar. Try out the sounds introduced in the pronunciation guide before you start the main part of the book.

The section on grammar explains basic grammar words. It will help you if you do not know anything about grammar or if you want to remind yourself of what words like “noun” and “subject” mean.

Page 6 is where the main section starts. Each double page explains certain points about German, so your knowledge will build up as you go through the book.

On each double page, the characters in the picture strips say things that show how the language works in practice. The Speech bubble key gives you translations
of what they are saying, but hould try to understand them first, and only use the key for checking. Any new German words that crop up are shown in a list with their English translations,
and there is always at least one test-yourself quiz to help you try out what you have learned. (The answers are given on pages 56-57.)

In the Speech bubble key, you will sometimes notice a slightly different translation to the word- for-word one. This is because different languages do not always say things in the same way, and the translation given is more natural in English.
